Rabbit´s second device could be released next year

After the poorly received Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin, Rabbit is preparing a new standalone AI gadget for 2026, CEO Jesse Lyu told Tom’s Guide. The company is testing multiple form factors, including a possible “three-in-one” design, aiming to make AI hardware more practical.

Lyu said smartphones will become truly “agentic” within 18 months, giving Rabbit time for at least one new generation before OpenAI enters the market with its own device in late 2026 or early 2027.

The first R1, a $199 voice-controlled AI assistant with a small touchscreen, struggled to replace smartphones — a challenge Rabbit hopes to overcome in its next release.
