Chinese brands are canceling their ultra-slim phones, iPhone Air to blame

Poor sales of the iPhone Air — with reports of sharply reduced or halted production — are prompting ripple effects across the smartphone industry. Samsung reportedly faced similar weak demand for its ultra-thin Galaxy S25 Edge and canceled next year’s model. Now, a new supply-chain report claims major Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have frozen or scrapped their own ultra-slim “Air” phone projects. Xiaomi, which was said to be developing a close iPhone Air clone, has reportedly canceled it entirely.
