Google is rolling out major Gemini AI upgrades for Maps, bringing smarter voice control, landmark-based navigation and Lens integration. You’ll soon be able to describe destinations (“a cozy Italian restaurant nearby”) and add stops or ask about parking using natural language. Navigation will now reference visible landmarks instead of vague distances, while Lens lets you point your camera at buildings to learn what’s inside. Gemini also enables proactive traffic alerts and easier problem reporting. Landmark navigation and traffic alerts start rolling out today on Android and iOS, with Lens and full Gemini navigation coming later this month, and Android Auto support “soon.”
