Pixel’s new AirDrop coming to more Android phones

Google surprised everyone by enabling full AirDrop support on the Pixel 10, but more Android users may soon get it. Qualcomm confirmed it’s working to add the same cross-platform file sharing to Snapdragon-powered phones, potentially bringing AirDrop compatibility to a huge range of devices. Nothing has also pledged support and Google plans to expand the feature beyond the Pixel 10 series.

Contrary to rumors, the EU didn’t force Apple to drop its AWDL protocol. Instead, Google built AWDL support directly into Quick Share, allowing Android–iPhone transfers without Apple changing anything. With Qualcomm now involved, this Pixel-exclusive feature could soon become common across Android phones.
