Android 17 may add support for Motion Assist

Google is developing a new Android feature, likely debuting in Android 17, to reduce motion sickness when using phones in moving vehicles. Called Motion Cues (or possibly Motion Assist), it adds moving on-screen dots that mirror vehicle motion, helping align visual and inner-ear signals. The feature currently exists in Google Play Services but is limited by Android’s overlay restrictions, which prevent it from appearing over system UI elements. Android 17 is expected to introduce a system-level API that fixes this, enabling a full, secure implementation similar to Apple’s iOS solution.
