Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max no longer support Night mode in Portrait mode, a feature available on every Pro model from the iPhone 12 to iPhone 16. Night mode still works for standard photos, selfies, and time-lapses, but Portrait mode users lose low-light depth-of-field shots.
iPhone 17 Pro owners first noticed the omission and assumed it was a bug, but Apple’s support page confirms the limitation. Apple hasn’t explained the removal or whether the feature might return in a future update.
