Apple’s VP of Human Interface Design, Alan Dye, is set to join Meta

Meta is continuing its aggressive talent push, hiring Apple’s longtime vice president of human interface design, Alan Dye, who will join the company on December 31, according to Bloomberg. Dye, who led design for iOS 26, visionOS, Apple Vision Pro, and watchOS, will become Meta’s chief design officer, reporting directly to Andrew Bosworth.

He will build a unified design studio spanning hardware, software, and AI — a crucial move as Meta faces growing competition from Google, Samsung, and the broader Android XR ecosystem in headsets and smart glasses. His work is expected to influence upcoming Meta Quest devices, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, and future mixed-reality products.

Meta hopes Dye’s expertise will help create more intuitive devices that don’t require the hands-on demos currently needed for products like Ray-Ban Meta Display, strengthening its lead as competition in face-worn electronics accelerates.
