Netflix has quietly removed the ability to cast shows and movies from its mobile app to most TVs and streaming devices. According to an updated support page, users must now use their TV’s built-in Netflix app and remote instead.
Casting still works only on older Chromecast devices or TVs with native Google Cast, and even then only for subscribers on the pricier ad-free plans. Those on the ad-supported tier cannot cast at all, even with compatible hardware.
The change began rolling out in November without warning, and Netflix has not explained the decision, echoing its 2019 removal of AirPlay support.
