Pebble’s new Index 01 ring is a finger-mounted voice recorder

Pebble has unveiled the Index 01, its first smart ring — but it’s not a fitness tracker. Instead, the $75 pre-order ring is designed as a “memory device” that records short voice notes and voice commands for your phone. Press and hold the ring’s button to record; clips are processed locally in the Pebble app, with no subscription required.

The stainless steel ring includes a mic, stores up to five minutes of audio temporarily, and only records while the button is pressed. It can also control music, trigger smart home actions and may gain camera shutter control later. Unlike most smart rings, it’s not rechargeable — the built-in battery is meant to last several years and the ring can be recycled when depleted.

Pre-orders are open now, with shipping planned for March 2026.
