Apple is moving closer to adding end-to-end encryption for RCS messages between iPhones and Android devices, but the feature still isn’t ready. While Apple adopted RCS with iOS 18, cross-platform chats remain unencrypted. A recent leak shows iOS 26.3 beta includes groundwork for carrier-enabled RCS encryption, though it’s currently limited to a few French carriers and not active yet. With iOS 26.3 expected soon, full E2EE RCS support still appears to be some way off.
