Google will pay out $135 million to data harvesting victims

Google has agreed to pay $135 million to settle a US class action lawsuit accusing it of collecting Android users’ cellular data without consent. Eligible users (outside California) may receive up to $100, while Google will add clearer disclosures, require user consent and introduce a setting to opt out of cellular data transfers. The company denies wrongdoing and the settlement still requires court approval.
