Big-screen, book-style foldable phones are expected to dominate the market in 2026, according to Counterpoint Research. The firm predicts that book-style devices will account for 65% of all foldable shipments next year, up from 52% in 2025, marking a clear shift away from smaller clamshell models.
Larger foldables command higher prices and offer more premium features and productivity benefits, making them attractive to both manufacturers and consumers. Counterpoint also links this trend to ongoing memory supply constraints affecting lower-end smartphones, pushing brands to focus on higher-margin, premium devices instead.
Samsung, last year’s foldable market leader, may already reflect this shift, having sold more Galaxy Z Fold 7 units than Z Flip 7 units in the second half of 2025. Apple’s expected entry into the foldable market with a book-style iPhone could further accelerate adoption, though the projections will need to be confirmed by actual sales data.
