An Android app called Nearby Glasses aims to alert users when smart glasses are nearby by scanning for their Bluetooth signals. Created by developer Yves Jeanrenaud, the app detects advertising frames from manufacturers such as Meta and Luxottica Group S.p.A., which are involved in producing or partnering on smart glasses.
The tool reflects growing privacy concerns around wearable tech, especially as features like facial recognition could enable misuse such as surveillance or harassment. While the app offers a way to stay aware of nearby devices, its creator cautions it isn’t foolproof and may sometimes flag other Bluetooth gadgets.
