Samsung confirmed that a redesigned Bixby experience is launching soon with One UI 8.5, despite earlier confusion caused by a deleted newsroom post. The updated voice assistant focuses on improved natural language understanding, allowing users to control device settings and troubleshoot issues simply by describing what they want. For example, Bixby can automatically adjust settings like keeping the screen on while you’re looking at it, without requiring users to navigate menus.
The new version will also integrate real-time web data directly into Bixby’s interface, providing more up-to-date answers without opening a separate app. Although earlier reports mentioned Perplexity powering some of these features, Samsung’s latest announcement does not reference the integration.
One UI 8.5 is expected to debut alongside the Samsung Galaxy S26 at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, with the upgraded Bixby rolling out first in select markets and expanding later.
