Android Desktop Mode finally arrived

After months in beta, Android’s Desktop Mode is officially rolling out with the March Pixel Drop. Pixel users can now connect their phone to a compatible external monitor via USB-C and get a full desktop-style Android experience.

The interface includes a desktop layout with a dock, multi-window app support and works with wired or wireless keyboards, mice and other peripherals. Apps scale up to the larger screen, often using tablet or foldable layouts for better productivity.

Desktop Mode is supported on Pixel 8 models and newer (including foldables) with USB DisplayPort support. You’ll also need a monitor that supports DisplayPort over USB-C or a USB-C to HDMI adapter. The update begins rolling out today.
