Android power users can soon disable the software verification requirement

Google is introducing Android developer verification later this year, alongside an “advanced flow” for power users who want to install apps from unverified sources. The process includes enabling Developer Mode, confirming you’re not being scammed, restarting the device and completing a one-day security wait with authentication.

This feature is designed to prevent scam attacks that pressure users into disabling protections. Once enabled, users can install unverified apps (with warnings), either permanently or temporarily. The rollout starts in August via Google Play services, along with new limited app distribution options for developers.
