OpenAI is rolling out an update to ChatGPT, introducing ChatGPT-5.3 Instant.
The new version is designed to be more concise and direct, cutting down on long lead-ins and unnecessary explanations. It also reduces overly cautious refusals, aiming to answer safe questions more confidently and naturally.
OpenAI says the update tones down “cringe” or overly paternal responses, focusing instead on more straightforward, conversational replies. Improvements to writing advice and web research are also included.
The 5.3 Instant update begins rolling out today, with Thinking and Pro upgrades coming soon.
