Samsung’s latest concept phone rolls out for more screen space

At MWC Barcelona, Samsung Display showcased a new “Samsung OLED Mobile Slidable” concept, offering a fresh alternative to foldable phones.

The prototype phone expands by sliding upward, with the display rolling out from the top. The screen grows from 5.1 inches (16:9) to 6.7 inches (22:9) when fully extended, featuring a 1,080 x 2,640 FHD+ resolution and 426ppi pixel density. In landscape mode, it provides an even wider viewing area.

While the concept is still under development and may not reach consumers anytime soon, it highlights Samsung’s continued experimentation with expandable displays. The company previously showed a similar rolling prototype called the Flex Slidable in 2022, which never became a commercial product.
