Last year, Apple faced criticism for equipping only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max with the A17 Pro chip, leaving the standard models with the A16 Bionic. This move limited Apple Intelligence support to the Pro models. However, this year, Apple plans to power all four iPhone 16 models with the A18 chip. There might still be a tiered system with different GPU cores, but no model will have last year’s SoC. Additionally, a fifth model, possibly the next iPhone SE, was found in Apple’s code and may launch in early 2025 with the A18 chip.
