iFixit’s teardown of the iPhone 16 series reveals that the new Camera Control button is a physical, movable button connected by a flex cable. The teardown also highlights a heat sink designed to cool the A18 chip’s Neural Engine.

Notably, the base iPhone 16 uses a new electrically debondable adhesive for the battery, making it easier to remove. After disconnecting the battery, a 9-volt battery can release the adhesive in just 90 seconds, allowing for simple removal. Apple’s repair documents suggest this method may take longer over time, but initial tests showed quick results.
