Pixel 9 Pro’s cost of materials is $406 vs iPhone 16 Pro’s $568

Google launched its Pixel 9 series early this year to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone 16 series, a move that has shown successful sales results. A Nikkei report reveals the Pixel 9 Pro’s bill of materials (BOM) is 11% lower than its predecessor, though the iPhone 16 Pro’s BOM is higher, estimated at $568.

Apple’s A18 Pro chip and M14 display are among the most expensive components, reflecting the performance gap between Apple’s and Google’s chips. While BOM costs provide insight, they cover only part of the total expenses in launching a smartphone.
