Google Wallet now supports storing mobile credentials on Wear OS, with Schlage (via parent company Allegion) becoming the first provider to enable this feature. Wear OS users can now unlock Schlage door locks using their smartwatch, offering convenient access for employee badges, hotel keys, student IDs and more.
The credentials are secured with multiple layers of protection and can be easily deactivated if the smartwatch is lost or stolen. While this is a promising start, broader adoption by other door lock brands will be key to maximizing this feature’s potential.
