uTag app lets you use Samsung SmartTags on non-Samsung devices

A new app, uTag, allows any Android phone (Android 11+) to use Samsung SmartTags, breaking the Samsung-only restriction of SmartThings Find. Developed by Kieron Quinn, uTag is open-source and offers features even Samsung’s official app lacks.

To use uTag, you’ll need to install a modified version of the SmartThings app and sign in. Once set up, you can track SmartTags, use UWB for precise tracking and share tags with family. The app even includes automatic scanning for unknown tags to prevent unwanted tracking.

uTag is available on GitHub with a pre-built APK, and users can join the Discord community for support. AirTags are not supported, as Apple does not allow Android compatibility.
