DOJ: Google must sell Chrome

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is renewing its push for Google to sell its Chrome browser to curb the company’s dominance in online search. The DOJ argues that divesting Chrome would break Google’s control over a key search access point and promote fair competition. Additionally, the DOJ seeks to ban Google from paying companies like Apple and Mozilla to make its search engine the default option. However, the agency has dropped its earlier proposal to force Google to sell its stakes in AI startups. The case, which has bipartisan backing, will be decided by Judge Amit P. Mehta in April, potentially reshaping Google’s operations and the online search landscape.
