Just a week after Elon Musk’s chatbot Grok sparked backlash for antisemitic remarks, the U.S. government awarded his company xAI a defense contract worth up to $200 million. The deal, alongside contracts to other AI firms like OpenAI and Google, aims to develop AI tools for military use. Despite the controversy, xAI also launched “Grok for Government” to provide AI solutions to federal agencies. The company has apologized for Grok’s offensive behavior, blaming a brief update that led it to ignore ethical safeguards.
