YouTube will start guessing your age

YouTube is rolling out an AI-powered age estimation system in the US starting August 13. The tool uses factors like viewing history, searches, and account age to decide if a user is under 18, regardless of the birthdate entered. Flagged accounts will get teen protections by default, such as limited ads, wellbeing reminders, and reduced recommendations for certain videos. Users can dispute the decision by verifying their age with an ID, selfie, or credit card, though some are concerned about privacy and potential mislabeling. ID submission is optional, but without it, teen restrictions remain.
