Google and Mercedes-Benz have given the first look at how Gemini AI will soon be built directly into cars. The upcoming Mercedes CLA will be the first model to feature the Gemini-powered MBUX Virtual Assistant, developed in partnership with Google Cloud.
During a demo drive, the assistant handled natural, context-aware conversations — finding coffee shops, checking if they serve pastries, and even offering to call a restaurant to ask about its wine list — all without the driver touching the screen.
Gemini provides a much more natural and intelligent experience than the old Google Assistant. The Mercedes CLA will be the first production car with this technology, launching in the US by the end of 2025. Google also plans to expand Gemini to Android Auto and cars with Google built-in later this year.
