SpaceX has now launched over 10,000 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit after adding 56 more on Sunday across two Falcon 9 rockets — its 132nd launch of 2025, matching last year’s record with months to spare.
Of those, about 8,600 satellites remain operational, each lasting roughly five years before deorbiting. SpaceX is authorized to deploy 12,000 satellites, with plans for over 30,000, as rivals like Amazon’s Project Kuiper and others pursue their own constellations amid growing space-debris concerns.
