Apple has released its first major Vision Pro hardware update, powered by the M5 chip and featuring a redesigned Dual Knit Band.
The new band — combining comfort and easy adjustment with a built-in counterweight — makes the headset noticeably more balanced and wearable. Despite being slightly heavier, it’s far more comfortable than the original straps.
The M5 chip brings smoother performance, improved multitasking, and better battery life (up to 2.5 hours). It also enables 10% sharper visuals and a 120 Hz refresh rate, making the Mac Virtual Display feature significantly smoother.
While passthrough and app support still need work, the Vision Pro remains a uniquely immersive computing device. The $3,500 headset isn’t a must-upgrade for M2 owners, but the new $99 Dual Knit Band is a worthwhile improvement — and the M5 model marks a strong step forward for Apple’s XR platform.
