Apple is reportedly planning to introduce ads in Apple Maps search starting in 2026, according to Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter. Businesses will be able to pay for higher placement in search results, similar to App Store ads. Apple plans to use AI to keep results relevant and improve the interface beyond Google Maps. However, the move risks consumer backlash, as some already view iOS as overloaded with ads for Apple services. The feature may debut with iOS 26.4 or 26.5 next spring.
