A new report suggests the standard iPhone 18 may cut costs with a less advanced display. It’s expected to use Samsung’s M12+ panel – only a minor upgrade over older tech used in devices like the iPhone 14 Pro – while the Pro models will get newer, more efficient M16 displays.
This could make the base iPhone 18 less power-efficient, potentially offsetting gains from its upcoming 2nm A20 chip. It’s unclear how this will affect real-world battery life, but Apple could compensate with a larger battery. Since launch is still months away, more details are likely to emerge soon.
