EU advises member states against using Chinese networking equipment

The European Commission has recommended that EU member states exclude Chinese telecom equipment from Huawei and ZTE from their 5G infrastructure.

While not legally binding, the move signals a stronger push toward an EU-wide restriction as part of upcoming cybersecurity measures, including the Revised Cybersecurity Act (CSA 2.0), aimed at identifying high-risk suppliers and protecting critical sectors.

Chinese officials have criticized the approach, warning it could harm EU–China trade relations.
