OpenAI is reportedly preparing to release its next flagship AI model, GPT-5.6, as early as this month. According to sources cited by The Information, OpenAI Chief Scientist Jakub Pachocki told employees that the new model will be a “meaningful improvement” over GPT-5.5, with enhancements in performance, efficiency and safety.
The report also reveals that OpenAI is considering an IPO within the next year. However, CEO Sam Altman noted that plans could change depending on the pace of AI development and the company’s growing infrastructure investments, including a potential new data center in Ohio.
