Anthropic has launched Claude Sonnet 5, a new AI model that delivers near-flagship performance at a lower cost. Designed to be more autonomous, it can handle multi-step tasks, browse the web, use developer tools and work with less user guidance. Anthropic says Sonnet 5 significantly improves on Sonnet 4.6 and can match the more powerful Opus 4.8 in some tasks.
The model also includes stronger protections against prompt-injection attacks, fewer hallucinations, and improved ability to challenge incorrect assumptions. Claude Sonnet 5 is now rolling out as the default model for Free and Pro users, with access also available to Max, Team and Enterprise subscribers, as well as developers through Anthropic’s API
