Apple has reportedly shelved plans for a lower-cost Vision Pro headset, prompting Samsung Display to cancel development of a key display technology intended for the device. The display panel, known as G-VR, was designed to reduce production costs and support a lighter, more affordable mixed-reality headset.
According to reports, Apple is shifting its focus toward AI-powered smart glasses, while a next-generation Vision headset may not arrive until 2028 or later. Recent leaks and analyst reports suggest Apple’s roadmap now prioritizes smart glasses, with the rumored budget Vision headset no longer appearing in near-term plans.
