According to Omdia, global smartphone shipments fell 6% year over year to 272 million units in Q2 2026 as rising memory costs pushed up prices and weakened demand.
Samsung remained the market leader with 60.5 million shipments (+5% YoY), while Apple posted a record second quarter with 55.1 million units (+23% YoY). Meanwhile, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo all saw double-digit shipment declines. Omdia expects the market to remain under pressure through the rest of 2026 as high component costs continue to impact pricing and demand.
