The FCC is considering a petition from the conservative group Club for Growth that would allow AI-generated political robocalls without recipients’ consent ahead of the US midterm elections.
FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez warns the move could unleash a “tsunami of robocalls and misinformation,” increasing the risk of scams and misleading messages. The public can submit comments on the petition until October 19.
