Developer gets Apple Watch working with Android without an iPhone

An open-source project called Apple Watch Companion allows an Apple Watch to be paired and activated directly with an Android phone, without needing an iPhone for setup.

The software offers basic features such as battery monitoring, watch face management and some settings. However, it currently requires a rooted Android phone with Magisk and has only been verified on the OnePlus 13 paired with an Apple Watch Ultra 2 running watchOS 26.2.

Calling and health data integration are among the features still missing or incomplete. For now, the project remains a proof of concept, but it could eventually make Apple Watch devices more accessible to Android users.
