Apple rejected partnership with Meta

Apple and Meta recently discussed a potential partnership to bring Meta’s AI chatbot to iOS 18, but Apple ultimately rejected the proposal due to concerns over Meta’s privacy policies. Instead, Apple announced at WWDC 2024 that it will integrate OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Siri and Apple Intelligence in iOS 18. Users will have the option to let ChatGPT answer questions that Apple’s AI can’t handle. Apple chose OpenAI because it believes ChatGPT is the best AI chatbot currently available. Future integrations with other AI platforms, like Google, are still possible. Apple Intelligence will debut later this year in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia, starting with US English and expanding to other languages and regions over time.
