Cybersecurity firm Oligo discovered serious vulnerabilities in Apple’s AirPlay protocol, dubbed “AirBorne,” which could allow hackers on the same network to take over devices, spread malware, access sensitive data or perform remote code execution attacks. The flaws also affect CarPlay and third-party AirPlay devices like smart speakers and TVs. While Apple has issued patches, third-party devices may still be at risk since Apple doesn’t control their updates. Users are advised to update their devices and be cautious when connecting to public or unsecured networks.
