Sam Altman and Elon Musk are racing to build a super app that combines finance, social media and more. Altman, via Tools for Humanity and its crypto project Worldcoin, is rolling out the World app — a wallet, social platform and app hub with 26 million users, 12 million verified through eye scans. It aims to verify humanity online and compete with Musk’s X, which is adding payment features with Visa. Tools for Humanity also announced a Worldcoin debit card and may partner with OpenAI.
Meanwhile, Meta is developing its own AI super app, launched at LlamaCon. It includes a social feed, voice interaction, deep personalization and integration with Ray-Ban smart glasses. Meta aims to create a vibrant AI community and differentiate with its social and personalized experiences.
