Apple pulls ICE-agent´s tracking app from the App Store

Apple has removed the ICEBlock app, which let users anonymously report and view ICE agent sightings, citing “objectionable content.” The move follows pressure from Trump administration officials, with Homeland Security calling the app an “obstruction of justice.” Developer Joshua Aaron, whose app had over 1.1M users, disputes Apple’s claims that it endangered law enforcement. Critics compare the case to Apple’s 2019 removal of the Hong Kong protest app HKMap. Lawmakers from both parties have previously warned Apple against political censorship. ICEBlock’s security has also been questioned, with some experts calling it “activism theater.” Apple has not publicly commented on the removal.
