A new report suggests the upcoming iPhone Fold will use a 3D-printed hinge to reduce the visible crease in its folding display. The design may also include liquid metal and dual-layer glass, highlighting Apple’s focus on improving durability and screen smoothness.
This approach isn’t entirely new – Oppo already used similar 3D printing techniques in its Find N6 to achieve a near “zero-feel” crease. Apple has experience with 3D-printed components, using them in devices like the Apple Watch and USB-C parts, with benefits including improved efficiency and reduced material waste.
