Court grants Apple’s request to seek Samsung documents

A U.S. court has approved Apple’s request to seek internal documents from Samsung in South Korea as part of Apple’s ongoing antitrust case against the U.S. Department of Justice.

Apple argues Samsung is a key third party due to its competition in smartphones, smartwatches and app distribution. While the DOJ criticized the timing of the request, the court ruled there was “good cause” to proceed.

The request will now go through the Hague Evidence Convention process in South Korea, where authorities and Samsung can still decide whether to provide the documents.
