Google unveiled a major upgrade to the Gemini app at I/O 2026, introducing a redesigned “Neural Expressive” interface, new AI agents and a powerful video generation model called Gemini Omni.
The updated design brings smoother animations, richer visuals and more flexible responses, while Gemini Live is now fully integrated for seamless switching between text and voice conversations. The new interface is rolling out globally across Android, iOS and web.
Gemini Omni adds advanced AI video creation, allowing users to generate and edit cinematic clips using text, images or existing footage and even create AI avatars. It is rolling out today for paid subscribers.
Google also introduced two new agents: Daily Brief, which summarizes your day using calendar and email data and Gemini Spark, a 24/7 AI assistant that can automate tasks across apps like Gmail and Docs. Spark can handle complex workflows, monitor information and act proactively with user permission.
Additional updates include new integrations with apps like Canva and OpenTable, with broader ecosystem expansion and deeper automation features planned for later this year.
