YouTube is expanding its AI likeness detection tool to all eligible users over 18. The feature helps users find and manage AI-generated videos that use their face without permission.
Available through YouTube Studio, the tool requires a one-time verification process using a government ID and selfie video. Once enrolled, users can detect AI-generated content featuring their likeness and request removal if it violates YouTube’s privacy policies.
Previously limited to journalists, politicians and public figures, the protection will now be available to all creators. However, the system currently only supports facial likeness detection and does not cover AI voice clones. The rollout will happen gradually over the coming weeks.
