Apple’s camera-equipped AirPods are now expected to launch in late 2027, according to a new report. The earbuds were originally planned for 2026, but development delays tied to Apple’s AI efforts reportedly pushed back the timeline.
The built-in cameras won’t be used for photos or video recording. Instead, they will provide visual context for Siri, allowing the assistant to better understand a user’s surroundings and answer questions about what it sees. The launch window remains flexible, and Apple could still delay the project if it is not satisfied with the quality of the AI-powered visual features. Reports suggest the AirPods may debut around the same time as Apple’s foldable iPhone.
