Samsung’s smartwatch business had a rough start to 2026, with shipments dropping 28% year-over-year in Q1, while Apple recorded a 21% increase, according to Counterpoint Research.
Global smartwatch shipments still grew 4%, driven largely by Apple and Chinese brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi. Apple’s success was boosted by advanced health features, the affordable Apple Watch SE 3 and 5G support across its latest lineup.
Samsung is expected to refresh its smartwatch range next month, with the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 likely playing a key role in improving performance later this year.
