iFixit has given the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 a provisional repairability score of just 4/10, citing its fragile inner display, complex hinge and limited practical dust protection.
The Fold 8 earns some points for standard Phillips/JIS screws, a modular USB-C port and silicon-carbon batteries with pull-tabs. The new batteries also provide an 8.8% capacity increase over the Fold 7. However, accessing one battery requires removing the fragile outer display.
Repairs become even more difficult for the inner screen and hinge, which are paired into a single assembly. iFixit also found the inner display could be easily damaged during disassembly, while official replacement parts remain difficult to obtain.
