Google is rolling out a redesigned Pixel VIP widget with the September 2026 Pixel Feature Drop. The new widget adds one-tap buttons for calling or texting VIP contacts directly from the home screen. It uses a full-width layout for these quick actions, while users with more than four VIPs will see the older design instead.
Google has also changed how individual contact widgets work. Adding one now automatically adds the contact to the VIP list, and tapping it opens the dedicated VIP panel rather than the main contact details page. The updated features will be available on Pixel 6 and newer devices, although the new widget still requires a server-side activation from Google.
